Our History

St. Paul's Higher Secondary School, Marbisu is a Catholic institution run by the Mission under the Archdiocese of Shillong. The school is governed by a Managing Committee, with the Parish Priest serving as its Secretary. In terms of daily management, the school is led by the Parish Priest as the Principal, who is assisted by an RNDM Sister as the Vice Principal, along with dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff.

The school began its journey in 1950 under the pioneering leadership of Rev. Fr. Carmel Attard, SDB, and was originally known as St. Paul's High School, Marbisu. It received official recognition from the Government of Meghalaya in 1973 and was brought under the deficit grant-in-aid system in 1977. Since then, the school has been functioning as a government-aided institution. The celebration of its Golden Jubilee in 1999 marked a milestone in its history, during which it was upgraded to St. Paul's Higher Secondary School, Marbisu, under the leadership of then-Parish Priest and Principal, Fr. S. Nongkynrih.

The school now comprises a Primary Section, an English Section, a Secondary Section, and a Higher Secondary Section. It boasts spacious classrooms and is equipped with various facilities that support the all-round development of students, including digital classrooms, a library, science laboratories, and playgrounds for sports and games.

As part of its Platinum Jubilee celebrations, the school inaugurated the Science Stream on 11th June 2024. In relation to this development, the school received the official No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Government of Meghalaya on 17th October 2024.

In today’s rapidly changing world, commerce and business play a vital role in shaping both the economy and society. In line with this, we envision the introduction of a Commerce Stream that aims to:

Prepare students for both the workforce and higher education

Since its founding, St. Paul's Higher Secondary School, Marbisu has been a cradle of learning for the people of the West and East Khasi Hills. Its dedicated service to the community has been impactful, producing many resourceful and accomplished individuals who have contributed both locally and nationally.
